Our experience powering Planning Portal - an internationally leading solution in digital planning application submission – means TerraQuest are in a uniquely privileged position to provide a complete, tailored digital planning service for Northern Ireland – Planning Portal Northern Ireland.

Our solution

We collaborated with the client to architect and develop a bespoke, quality-assured service to suit the needs of users in Northern Ireland.

The service facilitates sustainability, putting online, paperless submission at the heart of the Northern Ireland planning business model.  

Our fully integrated digital application service is the largest joint IT project between local and central government in Northern Ireland, and the third system built using our quality-assured KeyChain Platform.

The outcome

The Northern Ireland Planning Portal, launched in December 2022, facilitates the processing of over 12,000 planning applications per year, allowing customers to submit and review planning applications, report breaches of planning control and submit requests for regional planning applications.

10 Northern Ireland Councils currently use the system, including:

• Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council  
• Ards and North Down Borough Council  
• Armagh City  
• Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council  
• Belfast City Council  
• Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council  
• Derry City and Strabane District Council  
• Fermanagh and Omagh District Council  
• Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council  
• Mid and East Antrim Borough Council and Newry  
• Mourne and Down District Council
